Who we are

We make the Emilian tradition our point of strength to create innovation.
SL Carni is a company specialising in excellent cured and fresh pork products. We are a young and motivated team that aims at creating the best products to meet all of our customers’ requirements: from processing to marketing, we take care of all aspects part of the production process.
Our service, the efficiency of our integrated logistics, our ability to respond immediately, and our understanding of the commercial and qualitative aspects of products have led us to satisfying over 200 customers, processing over 40 million kg of meat in a year, and exporting the excellence of Italian charcuterie all over the world.
We are located in the heart of the Emilian Food Valley: our traditions are a starting point to reach new goals thanks to the application of the most innovative techniques while respecting the history of charcuterie.
We hold the following certifications:
• BRC Agents and Brokers Level AA
• IFS Broker Higher level
• QS. Quality Scheme Broker (meat & meat products)
Our partner company for the production part holds the following certifications:
• BRC Food Safety Level AA
• IFS Food Higher level
• QS. Quality Scheme Cutting Plant
• Filiera SALAME FELINO IGP
We are authorised to export to non-EU countries (Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan, Cile.).

Our History

It was in 2013 that Mr. Marco Lei’s youthful passion for the meat sector gave rise to the first company, which operated as a trader from a garage.

In the following years, thanks to the success of the business, we moved from the garage into larger and more organised facilities. In 2019, we acquired our current 4000 m2 production facility, with the aim of directly monitoring the quality level of the product and customer service. 
The following were arranged in a short amount of time:
• new refrigerated units
• a -37°C blast chiller tunnel
• upgrade of the building.
To ensure the highest standards of food protection, safety, legality and product quality, sanitising stations were installed at the entrances in addition to automatic machine-washing equipment.

It was in 2013 that Dr. Marco Lei's youthful passion for the meat sector gave rise to the first company, which operated as a trader from a garage.

2018

New property

New property - 2018

Following the constant expansion of the business, which saw transfers to larger and more organised facilities, Marco Lei decided to take over 100% of the management and ownership, with a new corporate structure.

2019

Acquisition of the new facility

Acquisition of the new facility

The current 4000 m2 production facility was acquired in 2019 with the aim of directly monitoring the quality level of the product and customer service.

2020/21

€100 million turnover

€100 million turnover - 2020-21

Between 2020 and 2021, the turnover target of 100 million Euro was reached working with Italian and foreign customers.

Future objectives

New goals

Future objectives - 2021

Among the objectives to be achieved are the consolidation and development of the turnover, as well as further structural upgrades of the building with the repositioning of the refrigeration equipment. As for production, the packaging department will be redesigned and a department dedicated to the handling of frozen products will be created. The path to environmental certification will also be initiated.
